The soldier looks to be almost identical to the Fort William memorial which was carved by Beattie & Co. of Carlisle so I should think this is also a Beattie sculpture.
It always struck me as a bit strange that places like Fort William or a community in Sutherland would by-pass Aberdeen (when the pedestal is granite) and order a memorial from Carlisle.
