Every time I look at the figure it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.
Just a wee boy.

The paperwork was his service record and the district was a bit unclear to me.
Thanks for the replies. _________________ Researching WWI info from Aberdeenshire, Banffshire, Kincardineshire & Morayshire. |

Joseph Byers who was shot at Dawn was not the 16/17 year old from Dumfries identified in the book 'Shot at Dawn'. We still don't know who he was or where he came from.
See http://warmemscot.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=8817 for a full explanation

If anyone has pics already or is planning a visit to this memorial, can you please post pics of the name plaques of the following:
Harry Ashton - Scottish Rifles
Bertie McCubbin - Sherwood Forresters (listed on SNWM, his father was born in Stranraer)
Charles Nicholson - Yorks and Lancs (not listed on SNWM, both parents born in Wick so he should be on SNWM)
William Smith - 2 Rifle Bde (born in Whithorn, Smith is an assumed name, real name William Milwain)
