The Basra Memorial Wall commemorates 178 UK service perosnnel and one Ministry of Defence civilian who lost their lives on combat operations in Iraq. It also lists members of the coalition forces who were killed while under UK command.

The memorial was originally built in Basra in 2006 and stood outside the front of the Headquarters of the Multi-National Division (South East).

At the end of operations in Iraq, the wall was dismantled, and the new wall was constructed at the Arboretum by soldiers from 37th Armoured Engineer Squadron.

The brass plaques are the originals which were in place in Basra, and they are cleaned twice a year - before the anniversary of the end of combat operations in Iraq and before Armistice Day.

I did not photograph every plaque, but I believe I photographed all those who were Scots or serving in Scots units. Photos to follow.
