In my typing up of various newspaper bits and bobs relating to war casualties I came across the one below.

(Glasgow Herald 20th Feb 1915)
"Ross-
At Kragujevatz, Servia, on the 14th Inst. of typhus fever while acting as a Servian military doctor. Elizabeth Ness M.B. Ch.B., eldest daughter of the late D.A. MacBean Ross, Commercial Bank Manager, London, and of Mrs Ross, Craigdarroch, Tain.
"

Dr Ross is not listed on any memorial as far as I can tell. It seems odd to me that a British doctor would be working in a Servian (Serbian) military hospital or in their military during WW1. Anyone able to shed light on this practice?
As civilians aren't listed she will not qualify for CWGC but has a listing on SNWM.

Derek.

Derek

Dr. Elizabeth Ness Macbean Ross MB, Ch.B was in Serbia as a Civilian doctor, arriving there alone and sometime before the Scottish Womens Hospital. She was never an SWH member.

She, therefor, cannot qualify for CWGC status.
