Looks like this is another Newlands war memorial. The civic memorial is on the wall of the church

War memorial plaque moving to new location in Newlands

Published on Thursday 19th April 2012

Members of the community at Romanno Bridge will be joined at 2pm on Friday 27 April by Council representatives and The Royal Scots Borderers to move the war memorial plaque to a new location.

Under the stewardship of The Royal Scots Borderers, 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, Council Convener Alasdair Hutton will lead the ceremonial removal of the war memorial plaque from the old Newlands Hall and installation in its new location in the recently opened Newlands Centre.

John Currie, Director of Newlands Community Development Trust (NCDT), commented: "NCDT is honoured to receive the war memorial plaque into Newlands Centre. It will take pride of place in the new community building and will be seen by the many hundreds of hall and school users for years to come".

The war memorial is being moved following the closure of the old Newlands Hall on 31 March after many years of valued service as a key meeting space in the community.
