Shawlands Academy

The war memorial is housed in what was Shawlands Academy, now Shawlands Primary School 1284 Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow G41 3QP.

OS Grid Ref: NS 569619

Sometime in the 1930’s the Academy moved into new premises in Moss Side Road, Shawlands.

afterwards, and died a prisoner of war at Douai 2 May, 1917, from wounds received in action on the Sunken Road at Oppy 29 April. Buried in the cemetery there. An N.C.O. In the platoon wrote: “He was a brave soldier, who always did his duty nobly, and was beloved by the boys of the regiment.”
