Can't help with the memorial but
Francis Johnston, Farm Manager (Single) age 26, died 29 November 1919 of Meningitis at 6 Union Terrace, Dundee. Usual Res: Balgary Mains.
There is no mention of war wounds.
The death was registered by a brother J.W. Johnston.
His father - John (deceased) mother - Charlotte m.s. Kennedy
His older brother:
Name: JOHNSTON, WALTER ROBERTSON
Initials: W R
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Lieutenant
Regiment/Service: Royal Field Artillery
Unit Text: "A" Bty. 112th Bde.
Age: 29
Date of Death: 06/09/1918
Additional information: Son of Mrs. Johnston, of Balgray, Dundee.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: IV. B. 3.

Francis may be Gnr. 159989 9th Reserve Battery, R F A. who was medically discharged on 4 Feb 1919. He enlisted 10 Dec 1915.
No records survive. _________________ Jim

If Ian McCraw has failed to establish the whereabouts of this memorial then I fear it has been consigned to the 'skip'.
As I have mentioned before, from initial enquiries Dundee and Arbroath seem to have been very profligate with their memorials over the years. |
