e. 9th September 1914, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia aged 24 yrs 11 mths
r. Sydney, Australia Occ - Carpenter
NOK - Father - Matthew Mitchell, Elmbank, Newmilns, Ayrshire, Scotland.
Wounded 19th June 1915 on Gallipoli (Gunshot wound to the Abdomen), admitted to Cario Hospital.
Embarked for Gallipoli again on 1st August 1915.
While on the ship Alnwick a Charge came up from previous date (17th June 1915) relating to - Failure to comply with an order (Absent from parade) where he received 72 hours Field Punishment No. 2.
Reported as missing on dates stated. After a court of inquiry (3rd - 5th September 1917) subject was officially noted as Died on or between those date/s.
The order was confirmed by Lt - Gen W. R. Birdwood on the 23rd September 1917.

Interstingly there was corrospondance between the official channels as to contacting agents to try and find Robert......who was presumed to have made his way back to Australia after being wounded. How this would have been possible is beyond me. Various telegraphs and letters were sent and all can be read among his service record. - #
