One of the men listed in the second contingent is Thomas Grieve. He came from West Buccleuch, Hawick and is listed on the Hawick Boer War Memorial
From: http://www.cults.freeserve.co.uk/ancestry/glenfam/pafg15.htm#3020
Thomas GRIEVE was born on 14 Mar 1873 in Innerleithen, Peeble (sic). He died* 7 Jan 1902 in Boomfontein, South Africa, while serving with the Imperial Yeomanry. Thomas was counted in a census in 1881 in Innerleithen, Peebles. He was counted in a census in 1891 in Ettrick, Selkirk
*The date and place of death is taken from his parents gravestone and doesn't match the date on this memorial which says 17th January |

From what I can see on Peerage.com, Macaulay Kerans had a brother Percy Kerans who also died in Kroonstad in 1900 the Boer War.
According to the website they were the sons of Percy Ashworth Kerans and a Mrs Rivers.
On another site it gives more detail of the brother: http://www.treanor.co.uk/ancestry/files/np16.htm
He was a Lieutenant in Robert's Horse when he died of enteric fever at Kroonstad on 8 June, 1900 at the age of 22 or 23 |
