Hello Anne,

I'm just a 'newbie' around here, and I want you to be aware that I'm not sure if this is the same man who died with my grandfather.

I found Peter Thomson listed with my grandfather on the 'Service Returns' on the ScotlandsPeople website. This shows he 'Died of Wounds' that day.
From there I found him on the CWGC, SNWM and SDGW. Each of these show his army number as 25103.
I found his MIC which shows 25193.

The SNWM and SDGW each show his place of birth as "Catherline Kincardineshire". This should be Catterline.

The SDGW show his residence as 'Dumbarton'.

The Battalion War Diary shows the only 'action' in April, 1917, is when the Bn were in Support of the East Surrey Regt on the capture of the village of Villers-Plouich.

I found his parents marriage record which shows they were married on the 1st Jan 1895, at St Philips Episcopal Church, Catterline (Parish of Kinnieffs & Catterline), Kincardineshire.
His father's address is 1 Allan Place, Dumbarton.
His mother's address is Noy, Catterline.

His birth record shows he was born at Noy, Catterline, Kincardineshire.
The 1901 census shows he was born at "Dunottar, Kincardineshire"
The 1911 census shows that he was born at "Stonehaven, Kincardineshire".

The 1901 and 1911 census records for Dumbarton show that he is the eldest child, and the next born is a sister Mary.
There is a Mary Noble Thomson born in Dumbarton in 1896 (Mary Noble is his mother's maiden name).

I hope this information is clear, and I have a digital 'dossier' on Peter Thomson which includes all the documents I have on him so far.

If you'll allow me, I'll send a PM with my private email address.
If you want to reply, I'll forward a copy of my 'dossier' on Peter.

The only issue to remember here is that Peter Thomson on the Dumbarton Memorial shows him as a 'Piper'.

Kindest Regards.
