Note that this memorial is in the village of Collin, not in the hamlet of Torthorwald after which the parish (and memorial) is named

L/Bmdr Laurie was the second soldier killed in the 'Troubles'. He died of woulds on 15th February six days after being shot by a Sniper whilst on Foot Patrol in West Belfast, Crumlin Road. he was 22.
