Hi,

I hope this is not considered off topic. The above WW1 soldier was buried in Thourotte Churchyard in France and has recently been exhumed. He will be reburied in Noyon British Cemetery in France. As he is from my hometown of Inverkeithing I would be interested if any members post any info/photos they may come across about this event.

Rgds,
Alex

Being the only burial at Thourotte Churchyard his grave is shown here

Alex

Where did the exhumation info come from and do you have the reason for this being carried out?
It is highly unusual for CWGC to do this. If correct, I suspect it must be due to " local " reasons, possibly building work or change within the churchyard.

Hi Jim,

You are correct, I visited Thourotte last week and because the foundations of the church are in urgent need of repair - John Armet has been exhumed. I contacted the GWCG last week and they confirmed he would be reburied but could not give me details on dates.

Rgds,
Alex

Alex

This is a very rare event these days.
I expect the reburial will take place in the next few weeks, with his place of commemoration remaining as Thourotte Churchyard on the Debt of Honour Roll till then.
