The SBRS plaque posted by Mark at Blair Castle is very similar to the one at Waverley Station in Edinburgh. The Blair Castle one still has a red enamel cross though.

Has anyone seen any others around Scotland? I'd be surprised if these were the only two produced.

Thanks

Adam

There were a great number of these.
As the text suggests, they were presented by the Red Cross to every property which they were involved with during the Great War. In most districts the local Mansion House, Castle, or the like, was given over to use as an Auxilliary Hospital, etc.

I had a look at the Red Cross web site. Apparently there were over 3000 premises in Britain which were used as Auxiliary Hospitals notwithstanding places of other use (rest Rooms etc) during the Great War. It looks like they will have records of all these.

I suppose places like Blair Castle etc which are open to the public will display them. Would be of interest to see a list of where these places all were.
