"Deaths on Service.
HYNDMAN.
- Died, on 12th inst., of wounds, Arthur Lewis, private Yeomanry (attached Gordons), aged 42, youngest son of the late H. C. Hyndman and of Mrs Hyndman, Springside, West Kilbride."

1901 Census Ayrshire, West Kilbride, Springside, recorded (transcription):- Arthur Lewis Hyndman (16), Scholar, son, born West Kilbride; Henry Cowper Hyndman (64), Landed Proprietor, born England; Sarah Hyndman (57), Wife, born Kilmarnock; siblings.

Arthur ditched his given name in favour of, Lewis, his middle name, sometime before joining the colours.
