The club suffered damage during the Second World War when a bomb fell on the south green causing damage to the clubhouse and green.
The damaged memorial to the members who fell in the first war can be seen outside the main entrance.

What a great memorial and I am glad they decided to leave it with the shrapnel damage.

I have looked in several bowling clubs for a memorial and not been lucky enough to find one (apart from the civic memorial at Eaglesfield of course).
