Located in Westerkirk Parish Church, Bentpath at OS Map Ref NY 311 903
Westerkirk church was extensively restored between 1997 and 2004, and 12 windows by Alex Haynes of Albion Glass, Brampton, Cumbria were installed at this time (one for each month). The December window features stoat with rabbits. Although there is nothing on the window to say (nor any commemorative plaque) this window commemorates the life of General Sir Charles W Pasley KCB, FRS, DCL, soldier, engineer, pioneer, writer and poet 1780 to 1861. A proud son of Eskdale and paid for by the Pasley societies.
A fascinating man by all accounts http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Pasley and the inclusion of the badge of the Royal Engineer Establishment points to his illustrious career.
