Some of you might be aware there's an online campaign in support of Free Funerals For Fallen Troops.
In my innocence I'd rather assumed this was the case already but the campaign has attracted 460,000 supporters so there's either an issue to be resolved about paying for funerals or there's a lot of ignorance out there about the situation as it stands.
Given the nature of the internet I suspect it's ignorance but does anyone here actually know? I've done some basic googling but nothing jumps out at me.
Thanks in anticipation.

Death in Service - regardless of whether or not on duty - results in a funeral service provided by the MOD; burial or cremation. Alternatively, monies are provided to support the family's arrangements. The MOD does not pay for all aspects of the funeral: eg there is a limit on the number of cars in the funeral cortege; there is no provision for a wake etc.

Thanks. I'd have been very disappointed were the situation any other way.
