There are two D Duncans named on the memorial, both serving with the Royal Engineers. The Rutherglen Roll of Honour also names two: one simply as "Duncan D, Sapper, 317994"; the other as: "Duncan (Dan), RE, IWT, Son of Robt Duncan, Wardlaw Cottage".

Private Andrew Ferguson, US Army.

The Rutherglen Roll of Honour states that Andrew Ferguson served with the 118th US Infantry. He was the son of John Ferguson, 18 Cathcart Street.

Memorial: Plymouth Naval Memorial.

HMS Queen Mary was the last battlecruiser built before World War I and only member of her class. She was in the 1st Battle Cruiser Squadron and was commanded by Cecil Irby Prowse. She was hit twice by the German battlecruiser Derfflinger during the early part of the battle and her magazines exploded shortly afterwards, sinking the ship. Of the crew of 1,289 there were only 20 survivors.
