A few men listed on this memorial I can't find. (All WW1)

They obviously have a connection to the Academy but that connection might (in some cases) be only because they were educated there.

WEARING?, George, Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders Found
BLACKWOOD, George, Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders
McGEACHEN, James, Cameronians, 2nd September 1916 (also listed on Dollar Parish Church & a stone in Dollar Cemetery)
BLACK, Alastair W. G., Cameronians (also listed on Dollar West Church)
HEWETT, Scott W. D., Gordon Highlanders
McGREGOR, John L. C., Driver, Army Service Corps (also listed on Dollar Parish Church)
CRAM, John M., Ltg., Canadian R.A.F.? Found
HEPBURN, Horace, Pte, Canadian Camerons? Found
SLOAN, W. M., Canadian Highlanders?
PAULIN, Charles R., 2nd Lt., Indan Reserve (Brother of Sculptor)
McCLELLAND, George S., 2nd Lt., K.O.S.B. Found
MURRAY, John, 2nd Lt., K.O.S.B. Found
GRANT, William, Pte., Black Watch (also listed on Dollar Parish Church)
STEWART, Alexander, Pte., Black Watch

This man is listed on Dollar Parish Church - can't find him either
Captain J. GRAY GIBSON, Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders

I've tried spelling variations etc., but sometimes there's simply too many men of the same name in the same regiment to identify which one's which.

Anne

P.S. Am working on this memorial along with Dollar's 'other' Civic and 2 existing Churches (3 memorials), so no doubt there will be more to come when I get to WW2! Laughing

Capt. J Gray Gibson

This man lived at Belmont, Dollar at the time of his death and was an ex army officer although on his death certificate he is entered as a Retired Woollen manufacturer. At the outbreak of war he had served as a Captain in the 2/7 Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders at Alloa and Norfolk but I presume due to ill health he retired. He was Captain of the Sauchie Company of the Clackmannanshire Volunteer Battallion . He died in his home at Belmont, Dollar of pneumonia on 25 Aug 1916. He was given a military funeral with three volleys being fired over his grave and the playing of the last post. He does not appear on the CWWGC because he was not a full time officer. He is mentioned on the war Memorial in Tillicoultry Parish Church which was how I came to investigate his non-appearance on the CWWGC site.
When the then St Serf's ( Tillicoultry) Parish Church was renovated in 1929 his widow and a brother gifted the handsome brass eagle lectern in the church. At that point they were living in Redmayes, Dollar Road, Tillicoultry
