Edward Paterson Rutherford.

Not named on CWGC as he had died after resigning his commission. With the help of Ken Morrison we have disentangled his story. He is also named on the Glasgow Academy War Memorial and there is a short biographical note on the University's Roll of Honour: https://www.universitystory.gla.ac.uk/ww1-biography/?id=2539

Extracts from the London Gazette and The Scotsman indicate a commission to Second Lieutenant 19/3/1915, to Lieutenant/Temporary Captain 28/6/1915 with the HLI. In November 1915 he resigned his Commission on the grounds of ill-health. The National Probate Index shows his death to be on 7/12/1915 at Landour House, Largs: Captain, 3/5th HLI.

There is no sign of a Death Certificate to give caue of death.
