There are entries for Dugald in the Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald war and intimations databases which show his Father in Law was Robert Steed of North Crescent, Ardrossan and his wife was Margaret Steedman Sweet. He was 31 years of age and died of his wounds. (need to check the actual newspaper to confirm wifes maiden name) | The Glasgow Herald, Tuesday, 1st. May, 1917. "Deaths on Service. M'ARTHUR.- Killed in action on the 21st. April, Second Lieut. Dugald M'Arthur, B.D., Black Watch, minister of New Ardrossan Parish Church."
Same publication, day and date - Page 6 (Casualties columns) - "An intimation that Second Lieutenant Dugald M'Arthur, minister of New Ardrossan and formerly assistant in the Barony Church, Glasgow, had fallen in action was made by the Rev. John White in the Barony on Sunday. Mr. White said Lieutenant M'Arthur's ministry in the parish of New Ardrossan was beginning to show abundant evidence of his faithful and unwearied labours when he stepped out from his parochial work to the hardship of a private soldier. He was unwilling to enjoy, without some share in earning it, the freedom and peace and comforts of life that had been won by his brothers' sacrifice."
Same publication Thursday, 3rd. May, 1917. "Deaths on Service. M'ARTHUR.- Died on 21st April from wounds received in action, Dugald M'Arthur, Second Lieut., Black Watch, aged 31 years, minister of New Ardrossan Parish Church, beloved husband of Margaret Steedman Sweet, Elrig, Ardrossan, and only son of Mr. and Mrs. John M'Arthur, Rosebank, Renton."

ARDROSSAN
PRIVATE JOHN MCLEAN, H.L.I.
(Killed)
Private John McLean, H.L.I., who has been killed in action at the Persian Gulf, was the eldest son of Mr McLean, joiner, Ardrossan. He joined the forces on 21st February last year, and left for the front in August last. Private McLean was at one time engaged at Saltcoats station (G. and S.W. Rly.) and later acted as clerk at Rothesay, Largs and Troon. At the latter station he was booking clerk for nine years prior to enlisting. He was well known locally as well as at Troon, and sympathy is extended to the family in their bereavement. Our Troon correspondent writes: “Johnny” McLean, as he was familiarly termed by those who had the pleasure of his acquaintance, was transferred to Troon passenger station in 1907, where for a time he was engaged as parcels clerk, but latterly was promoted to the booking office. In both capacities he was a faithful and diligent worker, and he was a most popular member of the staff. He was held in the highest esteem by the travelling public, his winning manner, his obliging demeanour, and his cheerful good nature endearing him to all in a very special degree
