Williams service record confirms he married Annie Begg on 11 June 1909 in Aberdeen. They had three children Charles John, Annie and William. His parents were John and Sarah Radcliffe, and his siblings were John, killed in action(also on the memorial); LIzzie; Annie; Lorna and Nora. The family were living at 33 Spa St, Aberdeen. The personal effects returned to his wife consisted of "letters, 1 photograph, foriegn coins on a chain, pencil case, 2 discs, clasp knife, religious book, tooth brush"
