I noted the following in the Dumfries & Galloway Standard of 8th August, 1917.

Mr Anderson was yet to lose another son, Andrew, on 23rd March, 1918.

Andrew is commemorated on the Persie & Glenshee War Memorial north of Blairgowrie.

Andrew married Janet Patterson at the South U.F. Church Manse in Blairgowrie during August, 1917.
Andrew is described as a chauffeur (Pvt., A.S.C.) whose home address was 188 Holm Street, Glasgow.

The Patterson family farmed Heathery Haugh, Bridge of Cally but how Andrew and Janet came to meet I have no idea.

Neither Andrew or George Anderson appear to be on any war memorials in Dumfries, nor in the City of Glasgow RoH.

Mark

Mark - I see that the Anderson brothers were born in Wigtownshire, Andrew in Mochrum and George in Stranraer*, so it looks as though the family did move about a bit! (The father was a Hawker in 1901 when the family was in Lockerbie)
I don't see them on any memorial down here but the son-in-law is on the memorials in Applegarth and in Lockerbie in Dumfriesshire.
He is also mentioned on his family's gravestone in Borgue, Kirkcudbrightshire.

JOHN MALTMAN – age 32 – Private (18285) 1st Battalion, King's Own Scottish Borderers.
John joined his battalion at Gallipoli on 18 July 1915. They were evacuated from Gallipoli in January 1916 and moved to Alexandra in Egypt and from there sailed to Marseilles for service in France.
Born 1884 in Borgue. Son of James and Agnes (Monaghan) Maltman.
Husband of Maggie (Anderson) Maltman of Greenburn, Applegarth and of Mount Pleasant, Lockerbie, Dumfriesshire who he married in 1906 at Longwood, Tongland, Kirkcudbrightshire.
Died of Wounds on 16 July 1916 and buried in Corbie Communal Cemetery Extension, Somme, France.

* George Brown Anderson was born in 1897 in Wigtown.
