Captain Leask is right. Before it was closed it was the Leith War Memorial Hospital. We've got it on the fourm here:

Adam

thanks for the info on the War Memorial hospital . Hope the building is being preserved now it has been closed .

I am interested in a WW1 casualty from Leith as my namesake Uncle Lieut Patrick Wright Anderson , then with the 10 Black Watch in Salonika was on a night raid on enemy lines and a soldier from Glasgow and from Leith had been obviously seriously wounded and my Uncle and a 2nd Lt Duffy carried the two soldiers back to their lines but both sadly died of their wounds . The one from Leith was Pte S/ 5581 John Scott Thomson, aged 26 , "B " Coy 10Bn Black Watch dow 1 Oct 1916 son of Mr & Mrs Thomas Thomson of Leith and husband of Davina Thomson , 37 Arthur St , Edinburgh . Both casualties from that night raid were buried in Karasouli Mil Cemetery .

I have not so far found any war memorial in Leith with this Black Watch soldier's name on it .

best wishes
Pat
