Not listed on UKNIWM
Located in Kirkinner Village Hall (opposite the civic memorial) at OS Map Ref NX 423 514.
The memorial is not in the main hall, but a smaller hall at the back. It appears to be made of gilded steel and not brass.
Unusually this Roll of Honour does not record either those who died, or the fact that it is WW1. Comparison with the names on the Kirkinner civic memorial confirms that it is WW1 and those who died can be confirmed by comparison with that memorial.

I came across a mention of Colin Christison, who served with the South African Contingent in Ian Devlin's book: "Albanich: A History of the Galloway Rifle Volunteers". Christison volunteered to serve in the Boer War with the GRV. So I guess he decided he liked it over there. |
