Carntyne Old Church, Corner of Shettleston Road and Wellshot Road, Glasgow

Carntyne United Free Church, at the corner of Shettleston Road and Wellshot Road. The church was designed by Robert Bryden, it was originally known as Shettleston Carntyne Free Church. The church was built in 1893 and a hall facing Shettleston Road was added in 1914.
At the union with the Church of Scotland in 1929, Carntyne UF was renamed Carntyne Old Church.
The church closed in 2008 and the congregation united with Eastbank Church to form Shettleston New Church of Scotland.
As access to Carntyne Old is now not possible I would like to thank the Reverend Ronnie Craig for taking the following pictures of the memorials. Ronnie e-mailed to say:
“The memorials will be kept in Shettleston New Church and hopefully be suitably positioned in public view, when we are able to progress with our refurbishment.”
