Not listed on UKNIWM
Sadly I believe that this memorial probably no longer exists. It is certainly no longer in the school or former school building and my enquiries in local churches and the public library have not turned it up but I will shortly make an appeal in the press for information.
My evidence for its existance is the following article publised in the Kirkcudbrightshire Advertiser of 7th January 1916

Just to fill in some details - all of these men died in 1915 and, although Scott and Kerr died earlier, Thomas Colvin was reckoned to be the first man from Castle Douglas to fall in action.
George Huntly Badenoch, MIA 15/6/1915.
William Burgess, MIA 21/8/1915. Listed on Kirkpatrick Durham and Lockerbie WMs
Thomas Colvin, Died of Wounds 13/5/1915. On CD WM
Ducan Kerr, Accidentally Killed on active service 13/2/1915. On CD WM
(his brother Robert, Died of Wounds 18/4/1918 and they are both buried in Vale of Leven Cemetery in the family's home town of Bonhill)
James McNaught, Died in Camelon Hospital, Falkirk 23/3/1915. On CD WM - CWG in CD Cemetery.
Benjamin Rae, MIA 2/6/1915. On CD WM
William George Scott, Drowned 13/1/1915 when the armed merchant cruiser HMS Vicknor was lost.
CWG - Tarbet Old Churchyard, Isle of Jura.
William Solley, Died of Wounds 13/6/1915. On Dalbeattie WM
James Stewart, MIA 25/9/1915. On CD WM
(born as William James Carruthers Stewart)
Robert John Smith, MIA 3/11/1915. On CD WM
David McDill, KIA 11/12/1915. On Rhonehouse WM

I spoke yesterday to a former pupil (now a member or RBL) who remembers the Roll of Honour from his schooldays in the late '50s. It doesn't put us any closer to finding it but it is further evidence that it did exist.
