The 1914 -1919 War Memorial to the Great War relating to McEwans Brewery in Edinburgh that lists the many casualties from the Brewery who fell in the Great War is now on the wall of the CANONGATE KIRK alongside the William Younger & Coy Ltd Great War 1914-1918 War Memorial and William Younger & Co Ltd 1939 -1945 War Memorial as both firms of breweries merged to become Scottish & Newcastle Breweries .
To help anyone in the future seeing these War Memorials (plaques ) on the wall of the Canongate Kirk they have erected an additional (information ) plaque viz:
These war memorials were transferred from the Scottish & Newcastle Breweries at ABBEY and FOUNTAINBRIDGE and mark the historic connection between the Parish of CANONGATE and the BREWERING INDUSTRY .
[ This info came from Capt Ronnie Leask MBE of Edinburgh and I thank him for it ]

The two plaques on the right of the window are for Wm Younger's Brewery and are shown in another thread. The one on the left is the McEwan's Brewery plaque from Fountainbridge
