Wigtownshire Free Press (27/7/1917): Reported wounded and missing a few weeks ago, now officially posted as killed, Sergeant William McMail, Royal Scots Fusiliers, belonged to Pinmore, and resided with his grandmother at High Aldons, on the Pinmore Estate. Prior to enlisting in the South Ayrshire Territorials a few months after was broke out, he was employed as a gamekeeper to Brigadier-General Pollok-McCall, Pinmore House. He served through the Gallipoli campaign.

Wigtownshire Free Press (8/11/1917): Mr and Mrs McNeillie, Baillard Dairy, Colmonell (and late of Mark, Castle Kennedy) have been officially notified that their son, Pte Robert McNeillie, has died of wounds received in action in France. Pte McNeillie enlisted in the KOSB about five months ago and was 19 years of age. Before joining up he assisted his father in the dairy.

Note: Also named on Leswalt War Memorial.
