Jim,
I am asking because as far as I am concerned, it is NOT well established; otherwise, the councils, UKNIWM and all others concerned would name their memorials in an identical way - they currently (at least in Moray) do not.

Furthermore, I would not propose to lecture you on what your interests should be; i would be grateful if you did the same. _________________ Remembering my ggf, Pte Thomas Roberts, 10 SR, killed 25 Sep 15 at Loos.

All through this thread, and I think the other contributors did the same, I thought we were discussing the format being used on The Scottish War Memorials Project. _________________ Jim

Phew, you go away to do some gardening and miss a load of posts.
I have skimmed over the last few posts, I will not be replying in detail, life's too short folks!
Anyway the gist of this post is I have renamed the Bridge of Avon post. It is now...
Parish of Inveravon, Ballindalloch & Bridge of Avon
This is because
1. It is the Parish of Inveravon War Memorial
2. It sits between Ballindalloch and Bridge of Avon
3. UKNIWM still have it listed as Bridge of Avon. See here. When it has been changed by them to Inveravon we can consider another rename.
That is this matter closed here. As Mark pointed out there is another thread about naming standards on the forum where this subject can be discussed further so i'm locking this one. There is no point in duplicating threads.
Regards

I have noticed another post regarding the naming of memorials.
Can we keep these to an absolute minimum. There will obviously need to be some kind of "spring-cleaning" exercise.
However, it isnt a particular priority as I feel we have more important issues to cover first.
In the meantime I don't think it necessary to keep raising this issue in individual threads - if you feel that strongly about it, make a list of them and contact us by PM.
Or, you could enjoy the nice weather when it turns up, go outside, smell some flowers, go photograph some more memorials....the list is endless.
This semi-serious post has been brought to you by exhaustion, tiredness, and a slight lack of motivation. |
