This Portree High School war memorial was located when I visited the school in 2007 was in the main entrance area of the 1960s built school . The following year the school moved into new purpose built school and public library nearby . I presume the war memorials for WW1 , WW2 and Korean Campaign moved to this new Portree High School.
The Son of Portree Secondary school /later High School was a casualty of the Great war and he is listed as on this memorial for the School
Lewis A R Gillanders , Portree
Pte 97943 L A R Gillanders , Machine Gun Corps (inf) has a CWGC headstone listing his death on 1 December 1919 ( d. of w ) . He is in fact buried in the St Clements ( C of S ) churchyard at Dingwall next to his parents and possibly grandparents headstones
