Now that the majority of the civic memorials are 'collected', is it time to consider how best to approach the collection of other memorials?
Some time ago I attempted to list all the places of worship on 'my patch' (150) at http://warmemscot.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=1602 and against each church I maintain a note of whether they are collected, none present, church closed or blank (to be searched).
I later followed with a list of community and village halls (in a reply to the churches post). Adding to the list as I come across them and maintaining in a similar way.
Both of these have been a convenient control mechanism for memorials and hopefully the lists might be of some benefit to others as well as useful to me. Certainly it has led to some great finds.
I am now about to create a similar list for all schools and a further one for clubs with own premises (football, golf, rugby, bowling etc) and again add to the list as I identify a location and update as I am able.
I am sure I will never get around to searching all these locations personally but at least anyone who follows will know what has been done.
I would be interested in anyone else's views?

I think that is the best way to go. Start a list for each and then update as you go. I have been trying to make a list of Edinburgh Churches and that is very time consuming because there have been many changes over the years but the way to go is to identify current churches and then see what they have got.
Schools, halls and own premises clubs are worth doing the same way too. If you publish what you've done it will show what has been done and what still has to be done. You can't possibly do it all yourself.
Perhaps they should be listed in the 'to do' sections?
