I would think the answer is in the item you linked to.

It confirms the remains were recovered over a two month period and they were buried by the RAF in March and April 1942. This and the later removal of two crew from Dyce might have a bearing on how the stones are today. It is likely they were not buried side by side althought the CWGC stones could be this way at Dyce.
CWGC had no involvement with the burials, only their commemoration. If the stones are inscribed " Buried near this spot " they will have had a good reason for doing this.

It's the kind of thing you accept for battlefield burials.
I guess I was just curious/surprised at the "uncertainty" regarding a WW2 internment on home ground.
Still it's good to see how well these young men are remembered in both the real and virtual worlds of Braemar, Dyce and the internet.
