The Muster Roll of Angus : South African War 1899 - 1900 : A record and a Tribute .

Edited by J B Salmond : Brodie & Salmond , Printers & Publishers Arbroath 1900


The Preface is signed by J B Salmond with photographs of Angus Officers and Troopers etc in Colonial and Volunteer Forces engaged in South African War 1899 - 1900 . It also gives note on Angus Officers , Colonial Volunteers etc and the first entry has Earl of Airlie -David William Stanley Ogilvy , Lt Col , Commanding 12th Lancers as being a casualty in that War .

The Author was J B Salmond who was at this time editor of the Arbroath Herald and he died suddenly around 1901 I recall . ( His son J B Salmond , Author , historian on Wade & 51st Highland Div in WW2).

J B Salmond snr was my late father's Uncle !
