Located on the wall inside the parcel collection small office in Great King Street Dumfries. OS Map Ref NX 973 762
I had suspected the existance of this memorial some time ago and visited the office to see if it was there but they said there was none. Morris Service spotted it when he had to collect an undelivered letter and kindly photographed it and sent it to me. It had been in the main building but as the PO closed it and as it was being gutted an observant postman asked for it to be saved. It seems to be copper and has been beautifully cleaned (Morris's words).
The small sign underneath is as a result of a survey by the Post Office of all memorials conducted in late 2008.

I visited this memorial yesterday and confirm it is on the wall in the public side of the place where you collect letters (door on the right in the photo). It was previously in the main office, centre of the photo. The plaque seems to be bronze and has been enthusiastically cleaned.
