This is perhaps one of the most famous statues in Glasgow, for a reason entirely unrelated to the subject matter.
This is the statue which is famous for being decorated with a traffic cone on the Dukes (and sometimes his horses) head.

When I took these photos the Duke was surprisingly cone-free.

I had trouble fitting in the side panels so I created these merged shots. They're not very good but they hopefully show the detail on these panels.
This last photo shows that while the people placing a cone might see it as a bit of fun, they have unfortunately been responsible for some damage, as you can see by the sword here:
I only just noticed that he has a pigeon occupying the space where the cone should be! |
