Location is 2 miles NW of Crocketford off an unmarked road. The memorial is in woodland and not signposted so you will need a map and compass to find it. Park your car at NX 816 744, walk up the track, turn right at the T junction (about half a mile) and after about 20 yards you will see a stone wall through a gap on your left - this is the Bads Knowe memorial, go up to the memorial and you will see the Larg Hill memorial up the hill about 150 yards to your left. OS Map Ref NX 810 751. And yes, that is a hand with finger pointing upwards on the top.
From the monument you can see the circular stone enclosure that is the Bads Knowe memorial.

Frustratingly, as this is their burial place, this is not a war memorial within the national rules, so cannot go on the WMR/UKNIWM.
It is of course locally a war memorial. |
