Now that we have been running for nearly two years there is a little of bit of forum administration to be done.

For example there are some threads out there where we need photographs. We may not have photographs of the name panels or even of the memorial itself. We may need up to date photographs as well.

Other threads might not have a location, Ordnance Survey reference or a UKNIWM entry.

We will also start adding unveiling details so if they haven’t been posted we’ll list them here.

There will probably be other things needing some attention which I haven’t thought of but will be listed here too.

We will start making up a list here covering all this area’s memorials, civic, church, regimental etc. If we come across something that will need actioned the Mods. can add it to this list. If you see something that needs updated please post in this thread and we can update the list.

Two church memorials which are probably no longer in their original locations but have hopefully found a home in other local churches. There is one in Dundee and another in Arbroath.

‘The Scotsman’ - Monday, 5th December 1921, page 5

Dundee

A marble tablet bearing the names of eleven members of the congregation who fell in the war was unveiled in St David's-in-the-West U.F. Church, Dundee, yesterday, by Colonel the Rev. A.T. Campbell, Barry

'The Scotsman' - Monday, 11th April 1921, page 5

Arbroath

A memorial window inserted in Princes Street United Free Church, Arbroath in memory of 19 men connected with the congregation, was yesterday forenoon unveiled by ex-Provost Alexander, preses of the congregation, at a dedication service conducted by the Rev. James Murray.

Re the Princess Street United Free Church in Arbroath I recall that when I was home on leave that church was for sale possibly as far back as the 1970s /80s and was either knocked down and put into flats or the old church building made into flats , forgotten which . Will see what I can find out

According to the Angus Council website (libraries home page) the Roll of Honour for the Princes Street UF Church in Arbroath should be available to view in Arbroath Library.

Hi

It seems to be a Memorial Window that was unveiled in the church in 1921 . Dont know when the Roll of Honour was unveiled as it does not seem to be mentioned in that Scotsman newspaper reporting . Maybe the Memorial window and the Roll of honour came together in the church ! I dont know of anyone who went to that UF Church in Arbroath . Will see what the staff at the Arbroath library says ...
