The Glencairn Memorial Book was published in 2007. I have not seen it or yet found out how to get a copy but if anyone is interested, let me know and I will try and include it when I get mine. Price unknown unfortunately so please put a limit on cost.

Glencairn parish is the next one over the hill from me and is centered on the village of Moniaive.

I believe the book covers everyone on the panels in the Moniaive Memorial Institute.

Just had a nice long chat to Sandy Hall, one of the co-authors. Unfortunately he is not a computer user so it seems unlikely we will see him in here but I will try again.

I have ordered my copy of the book from

Jane Murray Flutter

Glencairn History Group
Ardnacloich
Moniaive

price £15 plus £4.15 p&p

I spotted this the other day too, let me know what it's like - I might be interested in a copy.

I have just received my copy and am almost (but not quite) lost for words.

The book is A4 size, with a fine hardback cover and over 200 pages!!!

It has photographs of several local memorials, a number of family gravestones, cap badges, medals and even a few battlefield maps. It has up to 3 pages on each man who died along with photographs, documents and newspaper clippings, in fact just about everything we see posted on our forums.

For WW2 there are no photos etc but there is about half a page of text on each man who died.

The book acknowledges support from Age Concern but it must have been massively subsidised to produce such a fine book for only £15 per copy and money raised from the sale is going to the Erskine Hospital!

Everyone should try and see this book - just to see what can be done.

On that recommendation I'll be ordering a copy ASAP.
