88 Years Ago Column (1921)

The Logie Easter War Memorial was unveiled on Saturday by Sir Hector Munro of Foulis Bt. Lord Lieutenant of Ross & Cromarty. The names of 24 heroes inscribed on the monument are

ROSS-SHIRE officer killed in ACTION.
Second-Lieut. Gilbert Robertson, Cameron Highlanders,- attached 1st Battalion who has been killed action, only recently left Fettes College, where he was head of the school, and gained an open scholarship at Oriel College, Oxford. He was 19 years of age, and was the son of Mr Robert Robertson, Logie Easter Schoolhouse, Kildary. Ross-shire. Besides being a prominent scholar, he was a member of the Fettes. Rugby football team.

FETTESIAN KILLED News was received yesterday afternoon that Sec. Lt. Gilbert Robertson , who recently left Fettes College, had been killed in action. He was head of the school, and gained an open scholarship at Oriel College, Oxford, last December. He was with the 1st Cameron Highlanders when killed. Sec. Lt. Robertson was a prominent member of the school , being a promising scholar, and was also in the fifteens. He was the son of Mr Robert Robertson, Logie Easter Schoolbouse, Kildary, Ross-shire.
Sec. Lt. Robertson was 19 years of age .

He is named on the Fettes College War Memorial.
