Name: LUNAM
Initials: D
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Private
Regiment/Service: King's Own Scottish Borderers
Unit Text: Depot
Date of Death: 20/12/1919
Service No: 200950
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: Near South-East boundary.
Cemetery: NENTHORN CEMETERY

Cemetery: NENTHORN CEMETERY
Country: United Kingdom
Locality: unspecified
Location Information: This is near Nenthorn Old House, on the Kelso - Gordon road. It now belongs to the County Council.
No. of Identified Casualties: 1

After not being able to find the above David Lunam on SNWM, I checked with a colleague who has the MI's for Nenthorn and although there's no photo of his stone available (unknown at this point whether it's a standard CWGC or a Family Stone), the MI states that his year of death was 1915. Confused

There is another David Lunam (born Kelso, died 27.03.1918) on CWGC and SNWM but although both records vary slightly (as to regiment), this one was in 13th Bn. Alexandra, Princess of Wales's Own (Yorkshire Regt.), formerly R.A.S.C.

There is a David Lunam on Kelso Civic Memorial - but which one is it?

Anne and Derek - There are two men named DAVID LUNAM on the CWGC Register.

The Earlston man is named on the Parish War Memorial as DAVID LUNAM, YLI so I'm sure he is Private 33855, 13th Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment.

The other one is named on the Linton Parish War Memorials in Roxburghshire as:
David Lunam – age 26 – Private (200950) Depot, King's Own Scottish Borderers.
David was a road surfaceman when he enlisted in January 1915 as Private (7685) in the 1/4th KOSB He was discharged due to illness in July 1918 and awarded a Silver War Badge (B28113) David died of kidney disease in the Kelso Cottage Hospital.
Born 1892 in Hownam, Roxburghshire. Son of the late Jane (Telfer) Lunam (died 1900) and of William Lunam of Hoselaw Mains, Linton and of Burnbrae, Nenthorn, Berwickshire.
Died on 20 December 1919 and buried in Nenthorn Cemetery, Berwickshire. (CWG)

That still leaves the identity of the one on Kelso - could be either Confused
