MONZIE CURLERS' TRIBUTE TO FALLEN OFFICER
The death from wounds received in action, just little over a year ago, of Lieutenant Duncan M'Ara, only son of Mr James M'Ara, nurseryman, an esteemed townsman of Crieff, has been fully commemorated by the brethren of Monzie Curling Club, who have subscribed for, and caused to be erected a handsome oaken cross, made by Mr Alex. Kerr, cabinetmaker, Crieff. Inserted in the cross is a brass tablet bearing the following inscription:- "In loving memory of Lieutenant Duncan M'Ara, 2nd H.L.I., died of wounds, 29th April, 1917, this cross is erected by Monzie Curling Club, Perthshire, Scotland, of which he was a popular member and honoured secretary".
Thanks to the good offices of Major Gibson, D.S.O., it has been found possible to place the cross upon the grave, and the best thanks of the club are due to Major Gibson for his official services in the matter.
