Hoole is an unusual name. There are no other likely Hoole's on the SNWM or CWGC and searching births of male Hoole's in Scotland between 1875-1900 brings up only 3 entries, including
Roland Allan Hoole, born in Partick in 1892. It would seem this man may have been known by his middle name and his first name has been mistranscribed?

MURCHIE, F.R.
CWGC ENTRY: This is the only possible found, but it would seem unlikely given how specific the war memorial is. I have also searched the Canadian attestation papers and found no matches.
Name: MURCHIE, FREDERICK LOCKHART
Initials: F L
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Private
Regiment/Service: King's Own Scottish Borderers
Unit Text: "C" Coy. 6th Bn.
Age: 35
Date of Death: 25/09/1915
Service No: 12625
Additional information: Son of the late Archibald and Agnes Jack Murchie, of 130, Hospital St., Glasgow.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: Panel 53 to 56.
Memorial: LOOS MEMORIAL
Hospital Street no longer exists but according to the 1927 Glasgow directory was near Cumberland Street and Old Rutherglen Road, just across the river from the church.
