The memorial to the brothers David & John Rennie Maxwell takes the form of a village Hall in Padanaram, Angus. Despite its appearance the hall would appear to still be in use.

The Memorial hall at Padanarm near Kirriemuir to Capt David Maxwell MC & Bar ,5 Bn Black Watch and Cpl J R Maxwell , Fife & Forfars had in around 2004 .......

....... framed photographs of each of the two Maxwell casualties .

At this time of my visit to the hall a new committee was in place with good intentions of renovating the old hall up to the modern time and I contacted Margaret then at the War Memorials Trust to get them a grant for the work on the hall / memorial part. I heard that the Angus council grant to upgrade the hall went to some other use as the Committee took too long over their application to renovate the hall .

I hope that the two photographs are still in the main hall

Great info re. the photos - will you be back at some point do you think ? Would be great to see them and excellent addition to this thread.

I took photographs of the two Maxwell lads as the keyholder of the Hall took down the old WW 1 photographs for us to photograph but that was before my diggy camera. They will be in my archive !

There is a relative of some sort of the Maxwells of Ballindarg in the hamlet of Padanarm and they were on this new committee we were told by this keyholder / committee secretary of the Padanaram Hall Committee . The hall is Angus Council Owned !
