I don't think Anne has covered Captain A Murray, Scottish Horse.

Interestingly this man doesn't appear in the Gairloch Roll of Honour when all the others bar A.B. D Maciver RNR do. AB Maciver appears in the Gairloch Roll of Service so presumably died after the roll was published in 1920 which explains his ommision.

Back to Captain Murray. I can only find one entry in CWGC which matches and interestingly it looks like he has two entries in SNWM. One of them gives a first name of Alexander

MURRAY, A
Rank: Captain
Date of Death: 14/08/1917
Regiment/Service: Scottish Horse
Grave Reference: Spec. Memorial 8.
Cemetery: MENIN ROAD SOUTH MILITARY CEMETERY

Surname MURRAY
Forename A
Rank Capt
Service number
Decoration
Place of birth Glasgow
Date of death 14 August 1917
Theatre of death Belgium
Cause of death Unknown
SNWM roll THE CAMERONIANS (SCOTTISH RIFLES)
Unit name Unknown Unit attached to THE CAMERONIANS SCOTTISH RIFLES
Other detail 2nd Bn.

Surname MURRAY
Forename Alexander
Rank Capt
Service number
Decoration
Place of birth
Date of death 14 August 1917
Theatre of death Unknown
Cause of death Killed in action
SNWM roll SCOTTISH HORSE YEOMANRY
Unit name Unknown Unit attached to SCOTTISH HORSE YEOMANRY

If he died in 1917 why was he not listed on the Gairloch Roll of Honour?

Adam
