Excellent work, thanks for posting all the information. The two names in the last post will be for the Great War.
Sgt Duncan McCallum RAMC
L/Cpl Duncan MacDougall ASC
It may be that they died after the August 1921 cut-off for the GWGC or it may be they are non-commemorations? It's probably worth posting them in the non-commemoration section of the forum to see if they can be indentified.

Thanks for posting Mike.
I have reprised my file for Sgt Duncan McCallum RAMC & L/Cpl Duncan MacDougall ASC, both of whom died after 1919.
I have tried to think 'out of the box' - the following men are certainly not concrete and some further work will be required to confirm one way or another.
I have a DC for Duncan MacDougall, (30), Army Pensioner, died 22nd November 1921 at 7 The Square, Aberfeldy. (Pulmonary Tuberculosis).
I have a DC for Duncan McCallum, (33), Cabinet maker, died 21st June, 1921 at Hillside Home, Perth (usual address 12 Dunkeld Street, Aberfeldy). (phthisis pulmonalis). |

Thanks guys. Duncan MacDougall is the man I had in mind. Am fairly certain it is him, I have been in touch with a relative.
The Duncan MacCallum is probably right too.
I will do a bit more research, and post when find any more information.
Meanwhile, any definite proof of :
Robert Campbell Pte Black Watch
James Reid Pte HLI
Would be appreciated.

He is listed in my copy of the SNWM - Black Watch Great War roll of honour

Pte 1692 is the one we already have mate. Now if you can identify the other Robert Campbell, then there are some definite 'brownie points' for you.

I have more information on a lot of these men. The only ones I'm struggling with are Pte Robert Campbell Black Watch & Pte James Reid HLI.
There are possible James Reid HLI men, not sure which one yet, and Robert Campbell may well be an error. Unsure.
Unless anyone can find any other candidates for any of the men.

BLAIR ATHOLL POSTMAN KILLED IN ACTION
Information has been received in Blair Atholl that Corporal George Reid, of the 1st Black Watch, has died from wounds received at the front on 30th December. Corporal Reid, who was 32 years of age, rejoined the 42d on the outbreak of the war, having previously served in the famous corps. He was unmarried, and for the last five or six years had been a postman at Blair Atholl. A brother, Private James Reid, of the H.L.I., in postal service at Aberfeldy, has been missing since the 20th September last. Both belong to Kirriemuir, and it is understood that four other brothers are serving their King and country.

A slight new twist in the Robert Campbell man of mystery
The story so far.
On the Aberfeldy Memorial are two Robert Campbells Black Watch.
On Breadalbane Academy Memorial, likewise two Robert Campbells Black Watch. One Breadalbane Terrace, the other Factory buildings ( aka Chapel st.
One of them has been positively identified as Pte 1692 Robert McFarlane Campbell 2nd Bn Black Watch KIA 25/3/1915 Mother Margaret Campbell
His address on birth cert is Chapel st, on census Breadalbane terrace.
The other Robert Campbell is a mystery so far.
There is a Pte 2451 Neil McGregor Campbell 2nd Black Watch on Memorial KIA 7/1/1916 Father Neil Mother Ann. The Father Neil Campbell was killed in an accident in 1894, she remarried Adam Kerr.
Neil had a brother Robert Campbell born in Chapel st ( aka Factory buildings ) on 2/7/1890.
Could this be the missing Robert Campbell?
The possibilities are.
1/ Robert Campbell brother of( Neil McGregor Campbell kia 7/1/16 )
is a non comm.
2/ He survived the war and it is a mistake on the Memorial.
3/ He never served during war
4/ He died before the war started
5/ Or some other possibility.
I can find no definite link to an Aberfeldy Robert Campbell, other than Pte 1692 2nd Black Watch KIA 25/3/1915
Can anyone find a death certificate for an Aberfeldy Robert Campbell that fits the bill. I can't find one.
Where did Robert Campbell brother of Neil McGregor Campbell die?
