Yes, I've just come back from a week on Shetland mainland, Yell and Unst. I can't say that I've got everything but a goodly proportion. Some shots are not as good as I would have wished due to (a) horizontal rain and (b) a brand new camera which I was learning to use so some images have the memorial leaning a bit because I was not used to the extremely short focal length of one of the lenses and some are dark because they were back-lit and I wasn't sure how to compensate (if all else fails, read the instructions). Actually, the weather was poor on two days out of eight so I can't complain.

Hope you find these of interest.

Mark and Paul -

Ta very much. Your positive comments are appreciated. I did enjoy my week on Shetland and seeking out memorials just gives it an extra dimension. Wonderful place. I can recommend a cottage on Esha Ness....

Great photos Ian and a very welcome addition to the site. I've always wanted to get up to the Shetlands and see the memorials there, och I'm just jealous Very Happy

Jim,

No excuse, the cottage I stayed in cost £300 per week. Just me, but it would have fitted 5 or 6. Great place.

I even had my very own pair of red-throated divers. (That's ornithological talk, that is.)

Thanks Derek. I've had a look at your pics and I see what you mean! Some good weather though.

Ian

I'm a bit late joining this thread since I'm just back from my own holidays. You're a star. I remember you hinting about a Shetland trip after your trip to Orkney last year and you've come back with loads of photographs.

I haven't had a chance to look through all the new Shetland photos yet but this is a great boost to the forum for this area.

Cheers

Adam

Thanks Adam. I haven't been greedy - there are a few left for others to get. There is a lot more of it than folks sometimes think. My neighbour was surprised to learn that I drove more than 600 miles on the islands in one week.
