This memorial is inside the church at Monzie. I believe it has been relocated from Monzie United Free Church on its dissolution in 1938;

THE STRATHEARN HERALD: 05.05.1917
LIEUTENANT DUNCAN M'ARA, H.L.I., DIES OF WOUNDS

Much regret was elicited in Crieff on Tuesday when it was announced that one of the most popular young men belonging to Crieff has paid the toll of war - Lieutenant Duncan M'Ara, of the Highland Light Infantry, his father that morning having received a telegram from the War Office stating that his son had died of wounds in France on 29th April.
Lieutenant M'Ara was the only son - and only child - of Mr James M'Ara, fruiterer and nurserymen. He was educated at Morrison's Academy, afterwards adopted his father's profession, and latterly had management of the nurseries at Galvelbeg. In the month of September, 1914, in response to the call for volunteers, he joined the colours, enlisting in the 10th Black Watch. His abilities and enthusiasm soon attracted the attention of his superiors, and he quickly secured promotion, attaining to the rank of company quartermaster-sergeant. In July, 1915, he recived a commission in the Highland Light Infantry, being posted to the Special Reserve, and subsequently to one of the Regular units of that regiment. He went to France about a year ago, and came scatheless through several big engagements, including the fierce fighting during the Somme offensive.
Lieutenant M'Ara was of an affable disposition and made many friends, while he was held in high esteem by those of the general public with whom he came in contact. With those who knew him best - his companions and more immediate acquaintances - his cheery disposition, big-heartedness, and a pawky humour, made him a supreme favourite, and many of these who are now serving in Britain's far-flung battle lines will receive with keen regret the news of the demise of their old comrade. General sympathy with his much respected father is expressed in Crieff and district.
