This is interesting but equally baffling. The details below are from the CWGC but there is no mention of any family.

Unit Text: 2nd Bn

So why did the family not mention themselves on George's extract?

David Enzor Joseph Francis Cundey Robertson born 11th Feb 1887 at Broombrae, Cluny. His father was a gamekeeper.
I imagine his mother Sarah Ann Cundey is linked to Joseph Cundey below.

Name: CUNDEY, JOSEPH
Initials: J
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Private
Regiment/Service: Gordon Highlanders
Unit Text: 1st/7th Bn.
Age: 30
Date of Death: 06/12/1917
Service No: 201946
Additional information: Son of Francis and Isabella Cundey, of Plyfold Cottage, Cluny, Tillyfourie, Aberdeen.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: B. 9A.
Cemetery: BOIS GUILLAUME COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION

Derek, this is not at all unusual.
For some reason, possibly due to the family moving to work in a new district / area the Final Verification Form for George went astray or was not returned to I.W.G.C.

That is a superb name - I wonder how many generations those names spanned before coming to a premature end in Flanders?
