Thomas' brother William R Gentles is named on the school's Roll of Honour as dying on 18 July 1918 after serving with the Scottish Rifles. He is not named on the CWGC register. A death certificate for William Robert Gentles shows death on 18 July 1918 at West Kilbride. It explains the circumstances of death as: 18 July 1918 at 8.30 am on the Glasgow and South Western Railway between West Kilbride and Ardrossan stations and particularly on part there one mile south of the former station. |
